How Much Does It Cost to Paint Kitchen Cabinets in Temecula? (2026)

Published prices for painting a standard kitchen run from about $1,800 to $7,500 depending on method, and larger kitchens reach $8,500–$15,000 or more. I found no published Temecula-only price, so the closest Southern California source is a San Diego painter. The biggest reason quotes differ is what they include: brushed in place, sprayed doors, or every box and frame sprayed.

The short answer: three price levels

I could not find a cabinet price published for Temecula itself, so I would not quote you one. The nearest local-market source I could verify is a San Diego painting company, Chism Brothers, which describes three ways to do the job and prices each for a standard kitchen. Treat these as reference points for a Southern California budget, not an offer or a Temecula quote.

MethodStandard kitchenWhat it means
Brushed and rolled in place$1,800–$2,500Doors, drawers and hardware stay on. Clean, primer, two coats.
Sprayed doors and drawers, brushed frames and boxes$3,000–$5,000Doors and drawers come off and are sprayed. A more durable, harder product.
Everything sprayed$5,000–$7,500Doors, drawers, boxes and frames. A large kitchen with an island: $8,500–$15,000+.

Why many painters price by the door

Cabinet painters usually price by the piece, not by room size. CertaPro says its cabinet work is typically priced around $125–$185 per piece, a door or drawer painted on both sides with a fine-finish spray. That price includes the outside of the cabinet boxes and does not include painting the inside of the cabinets.

Another published guide, from a cabinet company, lists three ways painters charge: about $70–$125 per door, $30–$70 per linear foot, or $3–$15 per square foot, and says labor is 80–85% of a professional bill. That is why two quotes with different bases can look far apart for the same kitchen. Ask every painter to quote on the same basis.

Count your pieces before you call. A short list helps: number of doors, number of drawer fronts, any glass doors, and the island. The prep checklist has a place to write it down.

What a bigger or smaller kitchen changes

Family Interiors, a flooring and remodeling company, gives cabinet-count ranges: a small kitchen of 10–20 cabinets typically costs $1,000–$4,000 to paint professionally, and a large kitchen of 35–50+ cabinets costs $7,000–$12,000. Its guide also puts a do-it-yourself job at $200–$600 in materials. Its low and high figures are wide on purpose, so I would use them to see which end of a range your kitchen falls on, not to set a price.

For a per-square-foot check, Homewyse's national estimate for May 2026 is $5.40–$10.79 per square foot. It is a national model, not a Temecula figure.

Why published prices disagree so much

In the sources above, professional prices run from about $1,000 to $15,000 or more for the same words, "paint kitchen cabinets." The usual causes are method (brushed in place or sprayed), whether doors and drawers come off, whether the boxes and frames are included, the product used, the condition of the existing finish, and the number of pieces. A low number often describes the first row of the table above. A high number often describes the last.

If the cabinets are damaged, or you are thinking about changing layout or doors, read cabinet painting vs. refacing before you compare quotes.

What to put in a written quote

  • Number of doors and drawer fronts, and whether boxes, frames and the inside of cabinets are included.
  • Method: brushed in place, or doors off and sprayed, and where the spraying happens.
  • The prep: degreasing, sanding, repairs, primer and the number of finish coats.
  • The product by name, and how long before doors can be used and closed.
  • Hardware: whether hinges and pulls are removed, replaced or reused.
  • The license and deposit. California requires a contractor license for work over $1,000 in labor and materials, and a down payment on home improvement work cannot exceed $1,000 or 10 percent of the price, whichever is less.

Lay two or three quotes side by side with the quote comparison tool. Our cabinet painting page explains what to put in the request, and the painting cost guide covers rooms and exteriors.

Questions about cabinet painting costs

Is painting cheaper than replacing cabinets?

Published sources say yes. Family Interiors lists replacing cabinets at $2,000–$30,000, and Chism Brothers says painting costs about 75–80% less than refacing or replacing. That only holds if your cabinet boxes are in sound shape.

Can I paint cabinets myself?

You can. Published DIY figures are $200–$600 in materials, and one guide says 30–60 hours of your own time. The result depends heavily on prep.

How long does it take?

One guide says a crew takes about 3–5 days, against 30–60 hours for a do-it-yourselfer. Ask your painter for a schedule by stage.

Will the quote form give me a price?

No. It sends your request to a local painter, who sets a price after seeing the work.
